Vday with my baby

Don't worry guys--I'm still alive. Doesn't feel like it though, this being my LAST semester but I'm surviving. One step in front of the other I keep telling myself. Can't believe there's only 7 weeks until I graduate COLLEGE, nbd. So excited and very excited for Derek to "graduate" with me. We'll definitely walk together but then he has student teaching in the Fall, so he won't technically be graduated until December, but regardless, we're still excited! Now who's convocation are we going to walk at since they are all on the same night, you might ask? We're going to have to let rock, paper, scissors decided. Which means...I'll get back to you.

But I dygress, this post is actually about our vday. It was great! Actually the best Valentines day we've had together, I'd said. So let me walk you through our day.

First, we spent the whole day at school and work. I actually worked Devotional that day so I decided to wear my new cute red blouse with match red flat pep toe shoes. Terrible choice. Usually they are very comfortable shoes but only for short distances, which apparently I forgot. And on the days I work, I WALK to campus so that didn't help. Let's just say I had blisties before my shift even started. It was awesome. But they looked super cute, if that counts for anything :)

After work and class, Derek had practice so I raced home to run my valentines errands before he got home. He also worked out after practice--longer than usually--which bought me more time. Good thing too, cause I definitely needed it. I had literally done NOTHING before Valentines day in preparation, just with school and work and life, time literally run away from me. Literally. Oh and a miracle on the way home, Sarah and Bennett Briggs saw me walking home and offered to take me home the rest of the way. MIRACLE! By this time my feet were in so much pain that I literally took masking tap and tapped my three little toes together (on each foot) and on my big toes! Just awful! But it did help, slightly. Wow the things girls do to match their shoes with an outfit!

Back to the story--ok so now I have time on my side. It was 5oclock and Derek was coming home at 630. I was off like a madwoman! First stop Porter's--for the materials needed to make his valentines gift I have yet to make him. Just need some time to make it! No worries, it's coming!

Second stop--Papa Murphey's for dinner. Which I am so glad we ordered in instead of going out. Just going to Papa Murphey's was nuts! But again being the planner I am, I ordered earlier that day so I showed up, got my pizza and took off! So far doing good on time.

Third stop--Walmart. Of course had to get candy and rose petals and something else for his present (which I can not disclose at this time given the circumstances). What was I thinking going to Walmart?! It was a MAD house and completely picked over. No rose petals but I did manage to get some sweet vday candy so bought that and off I went to.....

Albertson's! Fourth stop. In addition to the pizza, I wanted to get those bagged Caesar salad kits. My favorite! Yum! And of course dessert. I originally had cookie dough ice cream, his favorite, but I'm on this no ice kick for the year--doing good so far!--so I opted for strawberries and whipped cream. Even better!

Okay I think I'm done now, when I remember a friend said something about the Dollar Tree having rose petals, so on my way out I dash quickly into the dollar store. Stop number five. To my luck they had pink and white rose petals and these super cute cheesy pink champagne glasses. So I got them. WHY not at this point right? I think I get a little frantic when I working under a time crunch (at least when it comes to spending money) but hey it's a holiday for my love, so I wanted to go all out!

Needless to say, everything came together by the time he got home. He was super surprised and he loved that I went all out. Anything out of the ordinary always makes him happy, which I think I nailed. Enjoy :)

(My idea for dinner, cute right?)

(He got me real pearl earrings! I always wanted some. Love them!)
